My happiness

I guess my favorite topic is to talk about my pets, soooo, that's what I'm going to do hahahaha.

I have 2 dogs, the first one is called Gussy and he's already like 10 years old more or less, yes, he's an old man and more over bitter, whenever I try to make him affectionate or have a tender moment he starts biting me, so it's a love-hate relationship that we have, he is very grumpy and has the habit of peeing everywhere he can find, so he spends most of his time punished outside in the yard (although when I come home I always let him in the house hehe). I don't remember much about when he came home, I know my dad was the one who brought him because he was tied up outside where he worked, he was there almost all afternoon and my dad was waiting for someone to come and get him but no one ever came, so he took him and brought him with us; and even though he makes us angry we love him veeeeeeery much.

And the second one is called Preciosa and she is 4 years old, she is a love, she is the most tender, adorable, affectionate and loving thing in the universe, she is my older sister's dog but all of us in the family take care of her the same way, she is soooo much of a sweetheart, she loves to be cuddled, and if you don't pay attention to her she starts crying, literally, it's so funny when we are sitting on the couch and we are quietly watching TV and out of nowhere she lets out a sigh like "no one loves me". I remember picking her up when she was little, I knew my grandmother would go crazy when she saw me arrive with a dog, but the idea of leaving her there in the street broke my heart, luckily I was with my mom when it happened, so on the way I could convince her to take her to the house "temporarily" and as soon as we arrived at the house she stole everyone's heart (except my grandmother of course and Gussy, he wanted to fight with her), now my grandmother like her too but she is not like her best friend either.

And that basically, I have a little brother who is thinking about a hedgehog but I don't think it's a good idea, having one dog who wants to fight with everything and another who wants to play with everything hahahaha.

What advice would you give a high school student who is about to go to college?

To begin with and to be honest, I don't even know what I'm doing in my career hahaha, but I know I like it so I try hard, but well, here are some tips that I'm sure will help you choose what to study or at least get an idea:

1. The most important thing you can do during these years is to establish schedules, to have study habits to be able to be a responsible and organized person, since during higher education (at least in the university) what they do is to give you the materials and information of the subjects and you are the one who must distribute the time (in an organized manner, not everything at the last minute) to keep you up to date and not be lag with homeworks or works.

2.    Do not "fall in love" with a specific subject, because when you enter this stage you will realize that the things you learned during high school will not be the same as what you will be taught here, for example, I thought I was good at mathematics and now in the uniiversity I realized that I know nothing hahahaha. What matters is the career itself, you have to like the career for everything it has, not just the subjects it teaches (besides, loving the career will help you to be motivated when you want to die for not knowing what to do).

3.     You should NEVER let yourself be guided by prestige, how much money you are going to earn or what other people think of you, the only thing that matters is that YOU must love what you are studying, no matter if it is a university, technical or high school, you should not get carried away by those prejudices of "a university is better than a high school" because that could keep you away from your dreams. You must follow what you are passionate about, not the dreams of others.

And.... Finally, don't be afraid of the future or not knowing what to do, do things on your own time and not because of pressure from others, it's your life and your dreams, people who truly love you will always be there for you.

Is religion important to me?

Since I can remember I have believed in God, basically because I was born in a christian family that took me every Sunday to the church where I listened and learned about God, religion and all that things, although I must confess that when I was a child I didn't understand much and many times I started drawing in a notebook or fell asleep in my mom's shoulder hehe. But when I started to grow up and mature I was able to take religion seriously and really believe in that, you know, recognize the weight of my words and not just say memorized things, to be aware of what I believed and why I did that.

However, over the years (and especially this last one because of the whole pandemic issue), as I have been growing up and getting to know the world and the people around me I have changed my perspective on some things, I learned that things are not black or white, only good or only bad, I don't believe that religion is something to follow some rules and that's is, you go to heaven, I think it is being a good person, helping those who need it, always being available for others, being honest, kind, humble, etc. all these are the things that REALLY MATTER; for example, I have seen how some people think that just because they wear fancy clothes and say they believe in God, they can feel superior and believe that gives them the right to judge others (something I find really sad and a little pathetic).

In spite of everything, I feel that although my way of thinking may have changed a little, my faith in God has not, and that is all that matters.

What do you think of the health service in our country?

I feel that the health system in Chile is a service that is basically collapsed, unfortunately it is not sufficient for the population and does not guarantee health care for the patients who do not have sufficient resources to resort a better quality service.

Most people in the country are attended in public hospitals, CESFAM, COSAM, rehabilitation centers, community centers, etc. and in all these services there are deficiencies that impide a good care for the person, there are always waiting lists where they can spend from months to YEARS without receiving the care they deserve, in fact, many people have died and no one called them so that they could finally be attended.

For the same reason, many times the attention offered is bad, they do not give the solution to the problem and the only thing they say is "you have to come another day very early to get an appointment", so you have to be at 7 in the morning standing in line, exposing yourself to the cold and the danger of being in the streets at that time of the day. Besides, the coverage it has is very inefficient and limited, not enough to cover the needs of the people, so many must go into debt to be able to fight their disease.

People need an efficient, quality health service, capable of solving people's problems and  their illnesses.

Why do you think voting is important?

I feel that the act of voting is a way to show my opinion, my thoughts, what I hope for something that's important to me, since big things related to politics (president, mayor, etc.) or when we were in high school and we had to vote for our "best classmate", anyways, I have participated in this kind of democratic acts since I can remember, and since last year when I turned 18 I could finally vote in something political important for the country.

Voting is the most democratic method that exists to decide who will lead us, it's just being able to exercise my right that I have as a citizen and that is why it's very important that people vote and, even more important, that they vote with CONSCIENCE because it's a way that people can be heard, regardless of religious belief, political party, or social status, we ALL have the same right and all votes worth the same.

I think the best example is what happened in the plebiscite of October 25 in the last year, when we could vote if we wanted to change the constitution (which was created in 1980) of our country or keep it, this was an historic event and it has been the election with the highest participation since the voluntary vote was established. Demonstrating that the opinion of the people does matter and is capable of generating a change.

So this is why I believe that voting is one of the best things you can do to express what do you want and what do you think in order to change the things that are wrong and fix them. 💖

My last blog

To be honest, I'm not very sure what to say about the blogs, on the one side it was quite fun to think about some things in my life, it was very interesting to reflect on some things and moments, like why I chose my career and that little autobiography we did at the beginning. Besides, reading the blogs of my classmates was something I enjoyed very much and I could feel that I knew them a little more than before.

But I must admit, there were times when it was a bit tedious and boring to have to think about what words to use, how to form sentences and things like that (especially if I don't have the "inspiration" to write), it's easier for me to listen or read things in English than to speak or write it myself. So, these blogs have been helping me to be able to connect the words in the right way and create sentences without needing the help of the translator, although sometimes I had to use it because I was literally in blank.

And it's a little sad to know that this is the last one, I'm going to miss getting reflective at night (and early morning XD) about life, also reading other people's blogs; but I'm also relieved to know that because it mean I have one less charge and a little less stress, there were times that I really hated to think about what to write about, so I guess I have mixed feelings.

So, I just hope the people who have read my blogs have enjoyed it and I really look forward to meeting you guys in person soon.  💖 💖 💖

My favorite(?) subject

Weeeeell, it's a little complicated to choose a subject as a "favorite" basically because all of them have been very very stressful hahaha, but if we leave that aside, I think the classes I liked the most were of the "Crecimiento y Desarrollo de los árboles" with teacher Magda Orell, she explained everything sooo clearly and was very kind with us. Besides, the practical homework that we had to do were very simple to do and interesting (and in group by the way).

Her subject was about wood, defined as "the fibrous tissue that forms the trunk and branches of trees", she taught us that wood is made for different parts and it is possible to observe them both as macroscopically and microscopically.

For example, in the image they show us is  macroscopically, they are all the things we can see with the naked eye (most of them).

But not all wood is the same, she taught us that although there are many species of trees, it is possible to differentiate wood into only two types, coniferous (like pine, larch, cedar, etc.) or broadleaf (like lenga, oak, elm, etc.). This two are different in many ways, but the main ones are that conifers are "softwood" and their growth rings are visible, while broadleaf are "hardwood" and their growth rings are not visible (at least to the naked eye, we need a microscope for that). All the other differences are the ones that we can see microscopically, with special apparatus and things like that.

So, I don't know, I feel that they were classes that I really enjoyed, I really liked the matter she taught me and it was very interesting, besides, when the teacher is good I think the classes are even better.
